NYC Mayor Eric Adams needs to cancel the Covid mandate for everybody

New York City Mayor Eric Adams made the right decision Wednesday when he decided to drop the City order requiring Covid vaccines for athletes and entertainers. Hopefully, it is a first step to a complete end to the City’s Covid shot mandate for employed people.

Outrage has ensued over the blatant unfairness of the order allowing stars making million per year to skip the shot while ordinary workers are still forced to get the shot or face unemployment.

Unions who did nothing to protect their employees’ medical rights are now up-in-arms over the blatant hypocrisy of Adam’s decision. The chattering classes who up to now have cheer-leaded every Covid response policy have their knickers in a twist as well.

Some justifiably say it is blatant elitism, or it could be a clever move by Adams to create the political mood necessary to jettison his predecessor Bill de Blasio’s mandate to require all employees to get the Covid shot. Either way it bodes well for ending the mandate for all employees.

Please get on the phone and call the Mayor’s office and let him know that he made a good first step on the  way to ending the mandate for everybody

And please go to Adams’s social media and encourage him to end the mandate. He is reportedly obsessive about monitoring his social media.

Adams’s new order follows his dismantling of much of the repressive Covid measures put in place by bumbling Bill de Blasio. In recent weeks Adam’s ended vaccine passports for public places like restaurants, cinemas, and museums, and repealed mask mandates in public places. An order ending mandatory masks in daycare and preschool followed by several weeks a similar order ending masks in K-12 school.

Just days before de Blasio left office on January 1, 2022, all employees of enterprises located in the five boros were required to get the Covid shots. The order allegedly, was put in place to counter the rising number of omicron cases, even though all the evidence at the time indicated that the shots had no efficacy at preventing infection. No other city in the United States imposed a mandate on employed people.

Ending Covid shot mandate is a good idea. No government should ever force medical procedures on a free people. And when the compelled medical procedure makes the health problem it supposed to alleviate worse, then change cannot come fast enough.

All the data coming out of the UK, Israel, Denmark, Ireland, and other countries where the public health authorities do not falsify the data as a standard operating procedure like our own CDC does, shows that fully vaccinated people are MORE likely to get omicron than unvaccinated people with weeks of getting the shots.

Like all other aspects of Covid, it is all about the money and politics. Kyrie Irving, a star player for the Brooklyn Nets basketball team, who has a $140 million four-year contract, has refused to get the shot. He is barred from playing home games. He can play, however,  at games outside the City, and in a truly bizarre twist, unvaccinated players from visiting teams are allowed to play in Brooklyn while Irving is benched. The Nets are contending for a spot in the NBA playoffs and Irving playing at home as well on the road could take them to a championship, which is potentially worth hundreds of millions to the Nets.

Adams’s decision comes just days before the season opener for major league baseball and just in time for opening day for major league baseball. New York Yankee’s star player Aaron Judge ($11 million per year) has refused to reveal his vaccination status. New York Mets owner Steve Cohen is known to have given $1.5 million to support Adams’s election campaign.

Office buildings in Manhattan are only at 30% occupancy which is very bad for the New York City economy and in the long run is disastrous for the value of real estate. Adams appears to be doing everything he can to get people coming back into Manhattan and repealing the Covid police state seems to be a major part of Adams’s plan to revive the New York City economy.
