SCHEDULE:
10 am, Rally, Indoors in the Empire State Plaza North Concourse,
11 am, See Legislators
12:15 pm, Legislators will be leaving the LOB to go to the Capitol for the Governor’s speech. We want to line the hallways from the LOB to the Assembly Chamber
1 pm Governor’s Stae-of-the-State Speech Gov. Hochul will be giving her State-of-the-State address at 1:00 pm in the Assembly Chamber on the third floor of of the Capitol. The Assembly Chamber is not open to the public but the Capitol usually is.
2pm till 4pm, Meet with (or find) your lawmakers

MEETING WITH YOUR LAWMAKERS
You should be setting up meetings with your legislators to meet you on JANUARY 10, 2023. Take any time from 10:30 on that they can give you. Even if you need to miss another activity, it is worth it. Meeting with lawmakers is most important. If you are on a bus remember buses leave 4pm sharp. The latest meeting you can book is 3:30pm
***WRITE A LETTER to deliver to your legislators. Bring 5 copies of it as you want to get a copy to Speaker of the Assembly CARL HEASTIE, Senate Majority Leader ANDREA STEWART COUSINS and Governor KATHY HOCHUL. The other 2 letters you have are for YOUR Assemblyperson and Senator. Hopefully you can have a meeting with these two and hand them or their staffer your letter directly. If not, you deliver it to their office. Find pictures of the five people you are getting your letter to because sometimes you will see them in the elevator, on the stairs, etc… and you can stop them to talk to you and hand it to them at that time (Albany can be hectic, sometimes you need to go with the flow)
FIND PICTURES OF YOUR LAWMAKERS ON THE INTERNET SO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE. YOU MAY RUN INTO THEM IN THE HALLWAY, IN AN ELEVATOR, etc… YOU CAN HAVE AN IMPROMPTU MEETING WITH THEM. ALBANY CAN BE HECTIC LIKE THIS – TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OPPORTUNITIES LIKE THIS.
Take a group picture with your lawmakers and post on social media. Tag them. You can send to TEACHERS FOR CHOICE and we will post it too. If they won’t take a picture with you, take a picture of their name on the door of their office and post that on social media saying the truth of whatever happened in your meeting. Don’t use any offensive language in your posts.

MAKE SURE your lawmakers know this is a VOTING ISSUE FOR YOU and your family

NO FOUL LANGUAGE ON SIGNS – the sponsors of this event request no foul language on signs or used loudly while at this event, in the Capitol or with lawmakers
This is our first impression on the lawmakers. Don’t make it easy for those who hate us to dismiss us or paint us as “extremists” – what we say and do matters greatly
What should I do if a lawmaker asks me to wear A MASK to meet? Start recording them immediately. Be kind, do not get loud or vulgar, but ask them why they won’t meet with you when there’s no mask requirement to be in the building? Ask them if they will meet with you in the hallway. If not, how about outside of the building. Get it recorded. Elected officials don’t like being shamed for not doing their jobs properly.
