NY Take Action: Legislative Office Building reopens but only to those with vaccine passports
The Legislative Office Building in Albany, where most Assemblymembers and State Senators have their offices, has partially reopened to the public. It was completely closed following a rally for vaccine rights attended by thousands on January 5.
But only people who have a vaccine passport or proof of negative Covid test and another form of government issued identification will be allowed into the building paid for with the people’s tax dollars created specifically for the people of New York to meet with their elected representatives. In one concession to science masks are no longer required.
The Capitol has remained open since January 5 but only for people with vaccine passports or negative test results within 48 hours. These policies are still in place.
New York City ended required passports to enter restaurants, gyms and other public places yesterday. Governor Kathy Hochul suspended mask mandates in public areas and schools
We all know now from personal experience as well as the science that Covid shots do not stop the omicron variant. We also know that PCR tests are highly inaccurate and have a very high rate of erroneous results. So what is the point other than virtue signaling?
Regardless of your position on passports and testing, why do our elected officials and their staffs get special treatment? If the rest of the state can go to work and deal with anyone who walks in the door, why can’t our elected officials. This needs to stop now.
Please click No Passports to send messages to your State Senator, Assemblymember and Governor Hochul letting them know that continued exclusion of people without Covid documents must stop immediately.
Get on the phone and social media to tell the Governor, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie that ALL New Yorkers have a right to enter the Legislative Office Building and the Capitol.
